This is the world we have created for ourselves. A world where we can spend billions killing each other but can’t feed the poor. Where it is illegal to give money to the homeless. Where nature is illegal. Where we rape our planet of its resources in the name of the economy. Where we pay for school to work at jobs we hate to buy things we don’t need. Where knowledge is kept from the public for the sake of the economy. Where countries can orchestrate and allow ‘terrorist attacks’ on their own countries to justify going over seas for oil and nobody cares. Where intelligence is measured by what you think, not by your ability to think. Where a man does not have the right to do with his body what he wishes. Where materialism is consider healthy and progressive, and spirituality is considered nonsense mumbo jumbo. Where someone with big boobs can get famous easily, but someone with big ideas goes unheard of. Where children starve to death every night, and we chose to put on the mask of apathy. Where we cut down the lungs of the earth to plant fields for cows to eat so we can eat burgers from fast food restaurants to satisfy our appetite. Where billions of animals subjected to a life of fear and cruelty each year so we can eat foods we don’t need and wear cosmetics we have been brainwashed into thinking we need. Where sick people are looked at as customers, not patients. Where success is measured in materials, not in happiness. Why do we choose to live in a world such as this?
We live in a world that is confused and backwards. Play your part in making this world the beautiful place it could be if we could only look past our greed and instead look into the eyes of a loved one, of an animal, or of the stars for just one minute. Do what you can to bring back the tangibility of our inherent unity. Hold the door open for someone. Take time to listen to someone who is hurting. Show compassion. Stop going to Target every time you need to buy something. We created this. “We can change it anytime we want. It’s only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings of money. A choice, right now, between fear and love.” – Bill Hicks
So well said that it hurts to admit that this is actually our reality today. Do something good today, do something good EVERY day!… xoxo Besa
